The challenge

Compressed-air leaks quietly waste money, but they're tough to track when crews rely on paper logs and spreadsheets. Teams struggled to see what still needed repair, to prove the ROI of fixes, and to capture findings quickly while moving through a loud, busy facility.

Our solution

We built an iOS & Android app that lets staff log leaks through a fast, visual interface and track each one's repair status. Built-in cost-savings rollup reporting proves the value of every fix, while offline-friendly capture keeps field work reliable anywhere in the plant.

Inside the concept

A closer look

The economics of this app come down to one uncomfortable truth about compressed-air leaks: they cost money continuously, but they only get fixed if someone writes them down. A survey walk finds dozens of leaks; a clipboard loses half of them before the work orders are cut, and a spreadsheet can't tell anyone which repairs actually happened. Leak Survey Sidekick exists to close that gap. Every leak found on the floor becomes a structured record the moment it is spotted, and it stays visible until someone marks it repaired.

The interface is designed for the environment it lives in: a plant floor that is loud, busy, and unforgiving of fiddly forms. Logging a leak is a fast, visual flow rather than a wall of text fields, so a technician can capture what matters and keep moving. Structure is the point of that speed. Because each entry is captured against consistent fields instead of free-hand notes, the resulting leak reports are comparable, sortable, and complete enough to hand straight to whoever schedules the repairs. The same structure pays off later: when a planner needs to see every unrepaired leak from the last survey, the records are already shaped to answer that question.

Repair status tracking turns the log into a workflow. A leak moves through its lifecycle, from found, to pending, to repaired, and the app always shows the honest picture of what is still open. That is the view maintenance planners never had with paper: not just what was found on the last survey, but what remains unfixed from every survey. Nothing falls through because nothing lives in a binder, and survey walks stop being one-off events and become a program with memory.

The cost-savings rollup is what makes the app persuasive beyond the maintenance department. Each repaired leak contributes to a running savings figure, so the team can show management a number, not an anecdote, for what the survey program is worth. That answers the question that kills most leak programs, which is whether the walking and tagging actually pays for itself. Here, the proof accumulates automatically as the work gets done.

Technically, the app is built with Flutter, so a single codebase ships to both the App Store and Google Play, backed by a Node.js API on AWS with PostgreSQL. Field capture is offline-friendly by design, because the corners of a plant where leaks hide are exactly the corners where signal dies; entries are stored on the device and synced when connectivity returns. The app holds a 5.0 rating on both the App Store and Google Play, with over a thousand downloads from the teams who use it on real floors.

Common questions

What is Leak Survey Sidekick?

An iOS and Android app for maintenance teams that log and track industrial compressed-air leaks. Staff record leaks through a fast, visual interface, follow each one's repair status, and roll the repaired leaks up into cost-savings reports that prove the program's value.

Who is the app for?

Maintenance professionals and plant teams who run leak surveys in industrial facilities. It replaces paper logs and spreadsheets with structured records, so planners can see everything still awaiting repair and management can see the accumulated savings. Any facility that runs compressed air and walks leak surveys fits the same workflow.

Does it work in parts of a plant with no signal?

Yes. Field capture is offline-friendly by design, because the corners of a facility where leaks hide are often the same corners where connectivity dies. Entries are saved on the device and synced once a connection returns.

What platforms and technology does it use?

It ships on both iOS and Android from a single Flutter codebase, backed by a Node.js API running on AWS with PostgreSQL. One codebase keeps the two store versions identical and makes every improvement land on both platforms at once.

How has the app been received?

It holds a 5.0 rating on the App Store and a 5.0 rating on Google Play, with more than a thousand downloads. Those ratings come from the audience that is hardest to please: the people using it during real surveys on real plant floors.
