Education & Exam Prep

Passforge

Passforge is a web platform that helps candidates prepare for high-stakes certification exams. It recreates the real test experience with timed, full-length mocks, then turns each attempt into per-domain analytics and detailed explanations, so studying is deliberate instead of guesswork. Appluex built it and operates it as a first-party product, live at study.appluex.com.

The challenge

Serious exam candidates don't just need more questions, they need to practice under real conditions and understand exactly where they're weak. Most study tools stop at a score. They don't reproduce the pressure of a timed exam, don't break performance down by content domain, and don't explain the reasoning behind each answer, so people study hard without knowing what to fix.

Our solution

We built Passforge as a focused, distraction-free exam engine on the web. Candidates take realistic timed mocks with a familiar question-navigator, flagging, and countdown, then review a dashboard that scores them by domain and surfaces trends across attempts. Every question ships with a detailed explanation, and a custom in-site billing flow lets learners subscribe and switch plans without leaving the app.

Inside the concept

A closer look

Passforge is different from every other project in this portfolio in one important way: it is ours. Appluex designed it, built it, runs it in production, and answers to its paying subscribers, which means every product decision on this page was tested against real usage rather than handed off at launch. For prospective clients, that makes it the most complete demonstration we have of what building and operating a SaaS product actually involves: the exam engine, the analytics, the billing, the operations, all of it.

The core of the product is realism. A full-length mock runs under the real exam's timing and question count, with a question navigator, flagging for review, and a countdown, because pacing is a skill and the only way to build it is under the clock. Study mode is the deliberate counterpart: untimed practice where every question carries a written explanation of why the right answer is right and the wrong ones are wrong, in both English and Spanish, so review teaches instead of just grading.

The platform is built multi-exam from the ground up. Every exam in the catalog gets its own workspace, its own question bank written to that exam's published content outline, and its own per-domain analytics, and the engine itself is fully parameterized by course: adding a new exam means adding its course record and its bank, not rebuilding the app. That architecture is why the catalog spans fields as different as behavior analysis and engineering fundamentals without the study experience fragmenting.

We hold the platform's claims to the same standard we ask of the questions. The readiness indicator is computed from a candidate's most recent full-length mocks against the exam's pass mark, and it will not call anyone exam-ready on the strength of a single sitting; short drills cannot inflate it. Promotional pricing displays only when a discounted price actually exists. It is a small discipline with a large consequence: when the dashboard says something, the data behind it is real.

Billing is fully custom and in-site, built directly on Stripe rather than around hosted checkout pages. Learners subscribe monthly or annually, or buy fixed-term access, switch plans, and manage their subscription without leaving the app, and the billing layer is defensively engineered: it checks Stripe itself before creating a subscription so a retried payment can never double-charge, and automated checks verify that every open exam sells at exactly its advertised price. That is the level of care a payments flow needs when the users are your own.

FAQ

Common questions

Who built Passforge?

Appluex did, and we also operate it. Passforge is our own product, live at study.appluex.com, not a client engagement. We designed the exam engine, wrote the platform, built the billing on Stripe, and run it in production for paying subscribers.

What does Passforge offer exam candidates?

Realistic full-length timed mock exams with a question navigator, flagging, and countdown; untimed study mode; per-domain performance analytics with score trends across attempts; and a detailed written explanation for every question. The catalog covers multiple certification exams, each with its own workspace and question bank.

Is Passforge bilingual?

Yes. Question banks carry explanations in both English and Spanish, so candidates can review the reasoning behind every answer in the language they study best in.

How does billing work on Passforge?

Through a custom in-site flow built on Stripe: monthly and annual subscriptions plus fixed-term access, with plan switching and subscription management inside the app. The flow is engineered against double charges and automatically verified so every exam sells at exactly its advertised price.

Can Appluex build a platform like Passforge for my business?

Yes. Passforge demonstrates the full span of that work: a web application with real-time analytics, a content pipeline, custom subscription billing, and production operations. If you are planning a SaaS product, it is a working example of how we build and run one, and we are happy to walk you through it.
