SuperfastCPA
A mobile CPA exam-prep app that helps candidates pass by turning proven study strategies into quick, repeatable review sessions they can do anywhere.
Studying for the CPA exam spans weeks or months, and candidates forget topics they covered early on. They need spaced repetition and the ability to study in short bursts on their phone. While keeping progress in sync across every device.
We built bite-sized review notes candidates can read, annotate, and revisit using a proven repetition strategy that fights forgetting. Progress syncs across devices and slots in alongside chapter reading, MCQs, and SIMs, so review reinforces. Never replaces. The core study plan.
A closer look
The CPA exam has a shape that dictates the software. A candidate studies for weeks or months across a wide syllabus, and by the time the later sections arrive, the early ones have started to fade. SuperfastCPA's answer is repetition: keep every topic in circulation through short, repeatable review sessions instead of trusting a single pass to stick. That strategy is the product, and it drove the architecture. The unit of content is a bite-sized review note, small enough to finish in a spare moment, and the app's job is to make returning to old material as frictionless as opening it the first time.
Designing for spaced review changes the data model in ways a simple reader never has to think about. The app needs to know not just what a candidate has read but what they have revisited, what they have highlighted, and what they annotated, because those marks are exactly what a later review session is built from. A highlight made in week two has to be waiting, intact, in week ten. So notes, annotations, and reading progress are all first-class records rather than throwaway UI state, and the review experience is assembled from them.
Cross-device sync earns its keep in an app that is explicitly about studying in stolen moments. A candidate reads on a phone in a queue, picks up on a tablet at night, and expects the highlights and position to have traveled with them. We built progress and annotation sync so the study record lives with the account, not the device: whichever screen the candidate opens, the material and their marks on it are current. Losing an annotation is not a cosmetic bug in this product, it is lost study time, and the sync layer treats it that way.
The app is also deliberately modest about its place in a candidate's plan. SuperfastCPA's method pairs the review notes with the rest of a full study routine: chapter reading, multiple-choice questions, and simulations. So the product is designed to complement that work, not compete with it. Short sessions, fast entry into the material, and no mechanics that demand long uninterrupted blocks: the app fits into the gaps of a working adult's day, which is exactly where the strategy says the extra repetitions should come from. That restraint shows up in the interface too. The fastest path in the app is always back into the notes, because a study tool that makes candidates navigate before they can read has already spent the spare minute it was built for.
SuperfastCPA runs on React Native over a Node.js backend, with MongoDB storing the content and per-candidate study records and AWS hosting the platform, serving both iOS and Android from one codebase. Founder Nate Hansen described the working relationship simply: "They fixed any issues and made sure we were completely happy with the app."

Common questions
What is SuperfastCPA?
A mobile study app for CPA exam candidates built around bite-sized review notes and a repetition strategy that fights forgetting. Candidates read, highlight, and annotate short notes in quick sessions, then keep revisiting them so early topics stay fresh through months of study.
What did Appluex build for SuperfastCPA?
The mobile app for iOS and Android: a React Native app backed by Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS, with the reading and annotation experience, per-topic progress tracking, and cross-device sync that the spaced-review strategy depends on.
Why does spaced repetition matter in an exam prep app?
Because long study timelines guarantee forgetting. Material covered in the first weeks fades before exam day unless it is revisited on purpose. An app built for spaced review keeps old topics in circulation through short sessions, so retention comes from the routine rather than from cramming.
How does progress sync work across devices?
Reading progress, highlights, and annotations are stored with the candidate's account rather than on the device, so a session started on a phone continues on a tablet with every mark intact. In a study app those marks are the study record, and the sync layer treats them as data that cannot be lost.
Does the app replace a full CPA review course?
No, and it is not designed to. SuperfastCPA's strategy pairs the review notes with chapter reading, multiple-choice questions, and simulations. The app is built to reinforce that plan with extra repetitions in the spare moments of the day, not to substitute for it.
